¨           Verizon Business -  Colorado Springs, CO (Contract with Pinnacle)                                                                       November 2014 – March 2015

Project Manager

Objective is to remediate 230 Verizon Business sites across the United States to fulfill Public Service Access Point (PSAP) E911 FCC requirements. Project completion is scheduled for end of 2015. Project Manager responsibilities include working with Design Engineers, Implementation Engineers, Field Operations and outside vendors to install two 2911 Cisco routers and add one new T1 circuit (or hot-cut existing circuit) per the scope of work (SOW) requirements for each site. Using MS Excel spreadsheets extensively. Also using multiple Verizon databases. Required to have complete understanding of Verizon network infrastructure topology and have the ability to fully understand MS Visio network design drawings. Advanced understanding of telecommunications and networking infrastructure is required for this position.

¨           Kaiser Permanente -  Denver, CO (Contract with KForce)                                      September 2014 – November 2014

Project Manager

Responsible for HP server Integrated Lights Out (iLO) remediation in three large Kaiser Permanente data centers. Coordinate the remediation team including HP Computer Engineers, IBM Wintel System Administrators, and Citrix System Administrators throughout remediation window. Responsible for other remediation efforts including hardware and software upgrades to HP rack mounted and blade servers within the data centers. Responsible for entering and updating Remedy (Version 7.6) tickets and insuring all work is completed within the maintenance window. Using MS Excel extensively and helping train Coordinator Team how to affective use Excel spreadsheet to drive maintenance windows. Trained coordinators on Excel formulas to update databases and build metrics in Excel. Also trained coordinators to use SharePoint and to efficiently utilize SharePoint to share the team files repository.  

¨           Xcel Energy  -  Denver, CO (Contract with Mountain LTD)                                                                          September 2013 – July 2014                   

Senior Project Manager

Created and managed large network support projects for a large electric and gas company reaching across Minnesota, Michigan, North Dakota, Colorado, Texas and New Mexico. Responsible for driving multiple small, medium and large network and telecommunications infrastructure and circuit installation projects. Managed circuit and infrastructure installation, test and turn-up including leased copper, wireless including microwave and radio, and fiber optic cabling including underground installation and above ground Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) installations. Projects included partnering with the Operations teams (Motorola, AT&T and IBM) for data network support, radio and microwave support, new infrastructure build-out, standardization including following BICSI cabling standards. Also created process documentation including flowcharts and technical publications. Used Remedy ticketing system and received initial training on the General Electric IT Service Manager (ITSM) system. Also familiar with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system which is part of an Industrial Control System (ICS) used to control Electric and Gas control devices at the substations and generating plants. Familiar with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations required for the transmission of electricity and gas. Also involved in budget planning for the program plan and all associated projects. Used MS Project and MS Excel spreadsheets extensively including the utilization of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and critical path methodology.

Managed multiple large business data center installation projects. Projects included Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) including data center design, network equipment procurement, equipment installation, test and turn-up.

Outside Plant – OSP

Managed large data center construction and fiber optic splicing projects. Above ground and underground installations including trenching, boring, ‘make ready’ pole permitting and installation. Managed permits with city, county and state agencies. Also managed Splice Design Package (SDP) and associated splice work in man holes, hand holes and above ground (pole) splicing. Managed vendors and contractors including fiber optic characterization (FOC) testing and required test documentation handoff Letter of Authority (LOA) documents.

Inside-Plant - ISP

Managed data center planning, design, installation, test and turn-up for all data center network and telecommunications systems build-out. Managed fiber splicing of cable entering into data centers, points of presence (PoP) and customer premises. Managed data center installation of fiber optic transport equipment in carrier hotels including Equinix and AboveNet. Managed installations in Meet-Me-Rooms (MMR), collocation space (COLLO), and customer site installations. Managed installation of racks, cable ladders and trays, power installation, Power Battery Distribution Fuse Bays (BDFB), transport / data network equipment including Ciena, Fujitsu and Infinera, Tellabs, and Cisco gear. Managed installation of rectifier and battery backup power out facility. Used Excel spreadsheets, MS Project, Visio and construction drawings extensively for this work. Managed a large network audit project to remediate 2500 corporate servers. Work streams including Open Systems Teams, Midrange iSeries and HP-NonStop System Teams. Automated scanning was achieved using the Hewlett Packard Service Activator (HPSA) automated scanning platform. Worked with teams to resolve non-compliant audits checks. Worked with management to insure each Line of Business created a planning phase (including tasks, resources and deadline) and created an execution phase in the project plan. CIGNA Health purchased Great West (GW) Health including all remote health care sites. Migrated servers and software from Denver data center to Hartford, CT data center. Worked as a Project Manager and liaison with GW IT Team and the CIGNA IT Team. Worked with Siemens, AT&T and IBM contractors for all site migrations. Migrated all data, telecom circuits, network switches and routers (layer 2 and 3) from Great West to CIGNA. Used Microsoft Project to drive project schedule and utilized Planview as a dashboard and management scheduling tool.

 

¨           Intecon, LLC – Denver, CO         (Full Time Employee)                                                                                  August 2007 – August 2008                                        

Senior Project Construction Manager

Data Center Senior Project Manager and onsite Superintendent for $2.5M Outside Plant / Inside Plant network and telecommunications cabling project to install cabling infrastructure for the Department of Homeland Security at Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Artesia, NM. Was responsible for creating scope of work, design drawings, cost projections and material lists. Interviewed, hired and managed twenty direct report staff. Created and managed project timeline using MS Project Gantt chart including critical path methodology. Created all invoicing and tracked all external contractors, material orders. Planned and managed all financials, procurements, invoicing and employee timesheets. Followed Davis-Bacon laws and produced MS Project schedule and weekly reports for Intecon upper management and US government (customer). Managed Safety Officer, Installation Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, construction crew, and IT Engineers/Technicians. Insured redline drawings were complete and project met BICSI standards. Organized all housing for employees.

Safety: Safety was our number one priority during this project including strict adherence to OSHA standards, regulations and documentation. Hired full-time Safety Officer (per contract) and took personal responsibility to insure all staff wore hard hats, safety vests, eye/ear/skin/foot protection. Worked in confined space, so stressed importance of daily safety checks in manholes. Conducted daily/weekly safety meetings and explained the importance of communication and attention to daily safety issues. Completed project with no major injuries or accidents.

Outside-Plant: Supervised heavy equipment excavation crew and trenched several miles for installation of 4” PVC conduit. Installed utility vaults (manholes) and handholes. Installed 900/1500/2400 pair copper and performed splicing in man holes. Installed several miles of multi-mode/single-mode cabling and performed fiber splicing.

Inside-Plant: Installed new network cabinets and ladder racks in MDF and fifty IDF closets throughout facility. Installed CAT6 and 110 block termination blocks and cut-over from analog Avaya PBX system to new Cisco IP telecommunications network infrastructure. Terminated and tested all fiber cable in 40 buildings Tools: Excel spreadsheets, MS Project, CAD construction drawings extensively for this work.

 

¨           Raytheon Polar Services Company (RPSC) - Denver, CO   (Full Time Employee)                                 March 2005 – October 2005                                             

IT Project Manager

Managed $1.2M project to backhaul voice and data from McMurdo Station in Antarctica to data centers in Seattle, Atlanta and Huntsville, AL. Also managed the re-design and upgrade of satellite communications, network devices, telecommunications, antenna control systems, and power supply systems at McMurdo Station. Implemented Cisco VoIP infrastructure and communications between Antarctica and the continental US. Responsible for managing all external entities including, NASA, Space and Naval Warfare Systems, National Space Foundation, Air Force Technical Access Center (AFTAC). Used MS Project to track the schedule.

IT Project Manager

Managed data center network installation and upgrade projects for the MCI Internal Data Network division. Worked extensively with Cisco networking devices/systems and worked directly with Cisco vendors and engineers to install a seamless network infrastructure. Responsibilities included identifying customer requirements, developing project plans, driving large hardware and software projects, and managing large budgets up to $2M dollars. Coordinated hardware and software purchases including Cisco router and switch hardware/software. Managed project budgets for all labor and equipment. Used MS Project to track project schedules, tasks and resources. Responsible for turn-up of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Project for the entire company. Utilized MS Project extensively to drive the project schedule and resources.

Developed, planned, implemented and managed all telecommunication and data network projects for a large non-profit health organization. Installed and maintained all Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) telecommunications, data network and desktop equipment for the entire organization. Project managed the installation and turn-up of the first Cisco data network for the company. Implemented three Nortel Option 11C PBX telecommunication switches at three data center locations. Installed, and maintained Nortel telecom equipment, including cable and phone installation for three large facilities.
